Fried Green Tomatoes

This week's CSA contents have been a smash. The fresh, unwaxed produce still has dirt on it and you can still smell the sunshine. We have enjoyed the softest green beans and the fattest cucumbers you've ever seen. But tonight we went a different route and made the veggies as unhealthy as we could: we fried them...

Here and There

Fresh produce from our summer CSA share
The past few months have been a whirlwind. The time between March and July seemed to pass in a week. The soupy DC summer is here but I feel like I had a hat and gloves on yesterday. But I hope this busy season won't mean the summer passes without enjoying enough lazy, hot afternoons and evenings.

We have been trying to take advantage of our bare bones roof deck. It has no grills and no pool, but it has a beautiful view of Rock Creek Park, and, as we learned on July 4th, is just high enough to watch the fireworks on the National Mall.

The biggest change so far this summer has been this guy's new job. I have a really good feeling about it and all that he will learn and do there, and I am so proud of how hard he worked to make it happen.
He also turned 27 on Sunday! Congratulations and Happy Birthday! Here's to the rest of our summer.
