Fried Green Tomatoes
This week's CSA contents have been a smash. The fresh, unwaxed produce still has dirt on it and you can still smell the sunshine. We have enjoyed the softest green beans and the fattest cucumbers you've ever seen. But tonight we went a different route and made the veggies as unhealthy as we could: we fried them...
Sliced, dragged in seasoned flour, dredged in egg and milk, and finally coated in cornmeal before taking a dip in some hot vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet. Fried to perfection in just under four minutes. Next to some broiled fish, you know, for health's sake. So much for plating technique, but there's not too much time for presentation when your mouth is watering.
